Fast Inspection Method for Thyristor-level Damping and Voltage Balancing Components of DC Transmission Converter Valve

Abstract:

The converter valve is the core equipment of DC transmission, and parameters of its thyristor-level damping and voltage balancing components need to be measured and tested regularly. Due to the large number of thyristors in the converter valve, traditional inspection methods are inefficient and have certain safety risks. In this paper, a new inspection method is proposed, which can apply voltage signals of different frequencies at both ends of the thyristor-level without disconnecting the wiring of the thyristor-level damping and voltage balancing components to generate a circuit network equation set, using the weighted least squares method to solve component parameters. The proposed method is applied to the rapid inspection of thyristor-level damping and voltage balancing component parameters of converter valves in three technical routes. The results of simulation and field measurement verify that the proposed inspection method is simple, efficient and highly accurate, and can meet engineering requirements.
