模块化多电平柔性直流换流器子模块过电压保护

摘要:

以模块化多电平柔性直流换流器为研究对象,分析子模块过电压特点,研究子模块在运行中的瞬态过电压和暂态过电压问题。子模块瞬态过电压包括绝缘栅双极型晶体管(IGBT)关断过电压和二极管反向恢复过电压:针对子模块IGBT关断过电压,提出一种两电平关断技术抑制关断电压尖峰;针对子模块二极管在旁路开关动作时反向恢复过电压,提出一种抑制二极管反向恢复过电压的旁路方法。文中同时分析了系统故障造成的暂态过电压,提出一种带耗能回路的子模块拓扑,以提高换流器故障穿越能力,并可有效减少子模块级联数量。针对模块化多电平换流器在不同故障工况下的过电压问题,提出了多级过电压保护相互配合的控制逻辑策略,并提出一种冗余供电方案,解决了模块化多电平换流器启动过程中的黑模块过电压问题,提高了系统运行可靠性。最后,给出实验和仿真波形验证了瞬态、暂态过电压理论分析的正确性和保护方案的有效性。

Sub-module Overvoltage Protection of Modular Multilevel Converter for Flexible DC Transmission

Abstract:

Modular multilevel converter (MMC) for flexible DC transmission is introduced as the research object to analyze overvoltage characteristics of the sub-modules. The transient overvoltage and temporary overvoltage problem of the sub-modules in operation is studied. Transient overvoltage of the sub-modules includes turn-off overvoltage of the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and reverse recovery overvoltage of the diodes. For the turn-off overvoltage of IGBT in the sub-modules, a two-level turn-off technology is proposed to limit the voltage overshoot; for the reverse recovery overvoltage of diodes in the sub-modules when the bypass switch acts, a bypass method is proposed to suppress the reverse recovery overvoltage of the diodes. The temporary overvoltage problem of the sub-modules caused by system fault is also analyzed, and a sub-module topology with energy-consuming branch is proposed to improve the fault-ride-through ability of converters, which can also reduce the number of the sub-modules effectively. For the overvoltage problem of MMC in different fault operation conditions, a control logic strategy of multi-stage overvoltage protection coordination is proposed. And a new redundant power supply scheme is proposed to solve the problem of “first start-up failure” during the MMC starting process, while the reliability of system operation is improved. Finally, the experimental and simulation waveforms are given to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis of transient overvoltage and temporary overvoltage and the validity of the protection scheme.
