In order to increase the value and industry use of energy storage, the deep integration of energy storage into key processes of power system is necessary. The peak shaving process of a traditional power system mainly depends on power regulation of generation units and AC transmission lines. However, the more they contribute to peak shaving, the lower utilization and efficiency they obtain. Planners require more guides to find a better combination of peak shaving capacity among thermal generation plants, transmission lines and storage units. As a key tool to meet this demand, a simulation environment is built to mimic the dispatching process joined by variant types of generation units and the peak shaving process with optimized decisions for storage units and DC transmission lines. Considering relevant nonlinear and time-variant factors, this paper proposes a novel method based on optimal valne network for peak shaving optimization through DC transmission lines. In addition, a new optimization framework is also proposed to coordinate DC transmission and storage control. By these methods, a typical two-node system is simulated and the differences of peak shaving outcome under different proportions of transmission and storage are discussed and the influences to the generation side are analyzed.
